Rockland Secrets

Haverstraw

A lot of New York City's bricks came from Haverstraw: the clay was here and the Hudson was the road to market. By the 1880s there were more than 40 brickyards along the river. Haverstraw split off from Orangetown in 1719. Clarkstown, Ramapo and Stony Point later came out of Haverstraw.
